National Rifle Association | NRA-ILA News

While much in the world has been suspended or stopped, our efforts to protect and defend the Second Amendment must go on.While we all know the most effective methods of communicating with voters about an upcoming election involve person-to-person interaction, current circumstances make that near impossible.  Thus, we must adapt and adjust to make sure we are utilizing all the tools in our grassroots toolbox to make sure our fellow Second Amendment supporters are kept updated on the importance of the 2020 elections, as well as all issues pertaining to our firearm freedoms.  And as always, our efforts to engage voters is highly dependent on you!

As the COVID-19 crisis continues, Governor Henry McMaster issued Executive Order 2020-18 on Friday to shut down additional “non-essential” businesses, effective 5PM today.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to dominate our nation’s headlines and the concerns of most Americans.  In the pro-Second Amendment community, we’ve watched a seemingly never-ending deluge of developments that could, or would, have an impact on our right to keep and bear arms.  And, of course, that means a potential impact on our right to self-defense.

It's not just would-be authoritarian governors and local officials here in the U.S. that are using the COVID-19 crisis to attack the natural right to armed self-defense. Aspiring tyrants the world over are using the ongoing pandemic as an excuse to advance their preexisting gun control agendas. In at least three Australian states, government officials have used the emergency to close gun stores, leaving residents unable to acquire firearms and ammunition.

Don’t think that gun shops are essential? There are as many as 3,740,688 Americans who would disagree with you. That’s how many background checks the FBI NICS Office ran last month.
Posted: April 6, 2020, 1:09 pm
The mask is off (so to speak), and it is now clear beyond any reasonable dispute: America’s largest and most well-funded gun control advocacy group is systematically trying to ban law-abiding Americans, en masse, from acquiring firearms. And this at a time when Americans in record numbers have decided for themselves they need guns more than ever.
