June 2011 Rifle event: 4 Gun Action!

Posted by webmaster on July 7, 2011  •

A plethora of hardware, the 4 gun always brings out some serious metal and top shooters. Going from shotgun to rifle to pistol to two rifle stations all while the clock is running is simply maddening! Nerves of steel are required, as well as a good semi-auto rifle. Top scores were separated only by a matter of a few seconds. If you missed it, shame on you! Come out to the next event, the Wild Bunch, where we mix old school with modern twists. Check the calendar for details.

May 2011 Rifle event: Cowboy Action

Posted by webmaster on June 2, 2011  •

The lead was flying fast and frequently at this year's cowboy action shoot! We tried out some new steel targets for pistol, and they worked perfectly. Transitioning from revolvers to shotguns to rifles, there was a frenzy of action. After 6 different stages, the lowest elapsed time was shared by 2 shooters, with 2nd and 3rd place following closely behind. If you couldn't get your chaps ready in time, come out and join us for the next event! Check the calendar for details.

April 2011 Rifle event: Action Rifle

Posted by webmaster on April 26, 2011  •

What can be dubbed the "Jam-O-Matic match, April's event showed just what you can learn from your systems when put to the test. Almost everyone experienced some sort of failure with their firearm, most notably jamming issues. When the guns did cooperate, a nice course of fire was available that consisted of 30 evil bowling pins, setup in banks of 5. Running between the banks and changing positions (sitting, standing, prone) shooters were scored based on their time to complete the course, and optionally allowed to transition to pistol on the last 2 banks of pins. All said and done, the top time of the day was 1 minute 57 seconds. If you missed this event, come out to the next one! Check the calendar for details. Also, this shoot will be held again later in the year!

March 2011 Rifle event: Tactical Shoot

Posted by webmaster on March 23, 2011  •

March's rifle match showcased some talented precision bench rest shooters in the Tactical Shoot. 10 targets were placed anywhere from 50 yards to 235 yards, with some being obscured by trees and brush. A target was also placed high up in the air on a long strip of wood, further challenging all shooters. The top score was 98 out of 100, which included four X ring hits. If you missed this event, come out to the next one! Check the calendar for details.

February 2011 Rifle event: Poker Shoot

Posted by webmaster on February 22, 2011  •

The second match of the 2011 Rosedale rifle season was a new event, the poker shoot. Nine guys came out to "try their hand" and we saw who was the real deal and who was just bluffing. Each shooter drew five cards from a deck, and then shot the hand they drew. Targets were placed at 50, 100, 150 and 200 yards. It was a showdown between Tim with his .204 Ruger and JT with his 6.5 Creedmoor. Tim scored 49 out of 50 with 2 X's. JT answered back shooting also a 49, but managed 4 X's, thus declaring him the winner. Come out and join us for next month's event!

The 2011 Rosedale rifle season started off with the CMP style shoot. There were 12 brave souls that came out and faced the cold temperatures to burn some powder and have a good time. Guns of choice consisted mainly of AR-15 type variants, but a few shooters brought their SKSs, M1 Garands, Mosin Nagants and Swiss K31's. Everyone had a great time, and if you missed this event, come out to the next one.
